Jeb Handwerger: Now is the Time to Accumulate High Quality Juniors

Jeb discusses the ongoing political uncertainty and tensions in the Middle-East which could bring risks to the price of oil. There is a potential for war and the possibility that peak oil in that region may not be far off.

While the stock markets have been doing well, the overall world economy has been underperforming. We haven’t seen the rush into the gold sector yet due to ongoing uncertainty in the overall markets. The current market has similarities to the beginning of the liquidity crisis of 2008.

Gold is now consolidating, and Jeb feels that investors will first buy into bullion and then the big miners. Eventually, they will realize the potential that lies with some of the surviving juniors.

There have been some significant moves in the battery metals and some big declines. He feels that we may see a spike in demand for nickel by the end of the year due to upcoming demand from new models of electric vehicles.

Palladium has also faired very well recently, but cobalt, zinc, lithium, and copper have all been in decline. However, he feels some of these metals could bounce back quite quickly. He discusses some key stocks which he uses as indicators. Glencore has been shutting down cobalt production in the Congo and prices are starting to move up.

He recommends two books written by the founders of Franco Nevada; the first is “The Gold Book “by Pierre Lassonde and “Get Smarter: Life and Business Lessons” by Seymour Schulich.

Successful investors need to maintain a balanced life and avoid emotion. It’s important to know when to take money off the table.
